Sustainable Development Technology Canada’s SD Tech Fund invests in late-stage development and pre-commercial demonstration of clean technologies by Canadian companies.
The Statement of Interest (SOI) is an initial application used for preliminary screening and is subject to a competitive review process by SDTC and a panel of independent experts.
SOIs are evaluated on the basis of fit with SDTC’s mandate, selection criteria, and the quality of technology, marketing and business capabilities.
A limited set of applicants who demonstrate the strongest fit will be invited back to submit a full proposal for deeper evaluation.

As Northern British Columbia experiences hardships in the forestry sector, businesses that have relied on this industry are looking to diversify to new opportunities. Many have realized the trend towards the “green initiative,” and as a result, have embraced the opportunity to make the Prince George area a leading center for development in this new industry.
While the Prince George area is experiencing great success in the area of solid bio-energy, it is important to remember that energy production is not the only aspect of a green industry, nor are solids the only form of bio-energy. Whether a company has developed a process for creating alternative energy such as wood or carbon pellets, is installing solar panels, run-of-river generators, or is helping to ensure that buildings have greater energy efficiency, they all fit into what we like to call “Clean-Tech”.
As a recent graduate from UNBC, I am excited to be working on a project with the Innovation Resource Centre to help identify businesses related to the emerging Clean-Tech industry.Through this project, we will work to form a Clean-Tech cluster and help to ensure that the opportunities and support networks are in place for both new and existing companies to foster innovation and growth.
